      Testimonials from  Detox Participants

      Hi Linda,
This is the 1st time I ever cleansed past 3 days. I must say that it was difficult and I had many temptations to eat the no no's, but I'm thankful that I forged ahead, and stuck to my goal. I do have more energy and I actually lost 9 pounds of needed fat loss. I am seriously determined to eat less and lots more raw foods. I was also amazed at the taste that basil and thyme give steamed food, because I did have to have my vegetables steamed lightly at night. Again, I enjoyed the experience. I'd like to speak to you about an issue that I want to resolve, using foods you might recommend.
      Thanks  - Sylvia

      Hi Gwen,
I hope this note finds you in good spirits.
I haven't heard from you since we started the cleanse.  How is it going for you?  Is there anything I can help you with?
Hope to hear from you soon.
      warmly, - Linda

      Hi Linda,
I'm doing fine today is a great day!!!
I started the fast on Friday excited about this journal and had a fantastic day. On Saturday I went grocery shopping for all my supplies and began the journey. I found myself to be very tired and sluggish on Saturday; however after reading your notes I realized that this was one of the side effects. Later that day I started having craving for anything salty and I do not usually crave salty foods. On Sunday I didn't feel as hungry as I did the day before but I tried to drink a lot of liquids especially since my calf’s started to tighten up.  This morning I woke up with a lot of energy and went bike riding. I'm looking forward to the drink selections for today.
      Thanks - Gwen

      Linda,
I didn't know that the 24 hr water fast was included, so I didn't do that.  Also unfortunately I was at a very interesting conference today which included breakfast and lunch.  I brought only an apple and 2 bottles of water.  I was able to resist the fish spreads, coffee and donuts, but at lunch, I had a veggie sand with bread--I sinned.  I did notice that my knees didn't hurt as I went up and down the stairs and I do have more energy.  So I'm hanging in there, Sylvia,

      Hi Sylvia,
In the situation you were in, you made the best choices you could, but if you notice, you are become more conscience of the choices you need to make.  These are the challenges we face everyday whether were on a cleanse or not.
Don't worry about the water fast, you can try it after the cleanse, just to see if your discipline enough to complete a 24 hr. fast.  First timers usually complete 1/2 a day. As I stated in the FAST instructions, you can do 1/2 a day fast or 24 hr. fast.
I to attend a conference, held in Baltimore, Heal a Women, Heal A Nation.  Here is where pre-planning comes in.  I knew we would miss breakfast at the conference, so I packed a large container (32 oz.) green drink, bananas, strawberries, flaxseed, raw kale blended with water and made a mixture of nuts, seeds and raisins to munch on.  I saved some of the green drink for lunch and enjoyed it with the veggie sandwich they served.  On the way home, I finished off the nut mix with water.
       Thanks for sharing Sylvia,
       Peas & Carrots, Linda

      Thanks to you Linda.- Sylvia

Hi Linda, is a bake potato ok?

      Hi Sylvia,
Only vegetables and fruit on the list under "the Plan."  Eating vegetables that's not a root vegetables, will help facilitate the cleansing processes.  We are striving to cleanse our digestive system with cleansing foods and giving our liver and kidneys a much need break from breaking down the enzymes in the foods we eat.
Tomorrow, enjoy all the fresh fruits and vegetables (mostly green leafy vegetables) you want.  Be sure to eat every 2-3 hours, this is not a starvation cleanse.
      Have a restful night, Linda

      Hey Linda,
It's going alright so far.  Once on the cleanse, can raw tofu be eaten with spices?  Are there any spices that you prefer us not to use.?

      Good Morning Sylvia,
Happy to hear the pre-cleanse is going well for you.
In reading "the Plan" the foods you will eat starting Saturday are fruits and vegetables only.  You may enjoy the tofu until Thursday.
It's best not to use any spices including salt, sugar, herbamare or Braggs, until after the cleanse, some spices may up-set your digestive system.  If the food is not a vegetable or fruit, it's not on the cleansing list.
      Have a great day, Linda

      Hi Linda,
Yesterday I was in my doctor's office for yearly blood and urine test, and my blood pressure was very high, so I'm thinking that it's best not to start this cleansing at this time.  I am on some herbal medicine. If you have any suggestions, please feel free. Sylvia

      Good Morning Sylvia,
I understand your concern about your health and HBP.  Most people who decide to take the cleanse have decided to take control of their health.
Most HBP can be managed with these 5 Principles to good health:
      1. Losing weight,
      2. Staying physically active
      3. Consuming generous amounts of fruits and vegetables daily
      4. Keeping salt intake low
      5. Vitamin D from the sunlight helps lower blood pressure (walking out doors)
Which is the principles I stress on a cleanse.  Fruits and vegetables are a primary source of potassium, which keeps blood pressure under control.  Five servings of fruits and vegetables a day is the minimum, and surprisingly potatoes don't count.
You won't see a dramatic change in your weight on a 5 day cleanse, but hopefully you'll learn how easily it is to prepare quick nutritious meals and include physical activities as part of a lifestyle change.
Suggestion, herbs are a complement to western medicine, but be careful when using both together.  Herbs will not take the place of the 5 principles above.
I hope this helps with your decision to stay with us on the cleanse journey.  Don't look for perfection in yourself, look for completion.
Let me know if I can assist you in other ways. warmly, Linda

I went to the gym this morning and had it all to myself.  Now I will try to go again tomorrow.    I cannot believe it's the 6th day.  WoW!  Ernestine

      Friday 23, 2010
It's the last day and I can't believe I made it.   How are the others doing?  Have you heard?
      Ernestine

      Sunday, 25th,
Linda, thus far I’ve lost 8 lbs.  I have a lot of gas lately, oops, was I suppose to say that?  Is this a sign that I need more time on the cleanse?
I have started an exercise plan that started on Thursday.   I did attempt to ride the bike on Friday but got to the end of the driveway and saw the cars and chicken out.  I will go down to Valley Green and ride in a safer place.
My stress level went down and I had enough energy to get with my grand, if you know what I mean.  Talk to you later. Ernestine

      Monday 26th,
Hi Ernestine, here are three suggestions on working with Flatulence (gas)
      ·         “Elson M. Haas, M.D.” For gas, indigestion, or hyperacidity, drink a seed tea like fennel, anise, fenugreek, or cardamom seed.  These seeds can be simmered in a closed pot for 15 minutes, allowed to sit another 15 minutes before drinking.  A few of these seed, especially fennel or anise, can be also be chewed as an after-meal digestive aid.
“Annemarie Colbin” Too much grain can make the body acidic, like meat does.  If the grain is not chewed well, it can cause flatulence and overweight.  The saliva in our mouth contains an enzyme called ptyalin, which initiates the breakdown of starches, and if that enzyme doesn’t get a chance to act, the rest of the digestive process becomes much more laborious.
      ·         “Linda Taylor, BA., CHHC.” Take a few minutes to relax, release, and unload; meaning take a trip to the bathroom so your body can release any and all feces matter not released earlier.  It doesn’t mean you need to continue this cleanse, but do monitor your combination of fruits and green vegetables.

      Monday 26,
